Program for serving the poor and underserved community in California:
US is one of the richest countries in the world, yet, many people lack basic needs such as food, shelter, and safety.Homelessness has plagued the country ever since the gutting of affordable housing and the situation has only been exacerbated by the economic downturn in 2008.Today, even many qualified and educated people don't have a roof over their heads because of severa; economic, social, and political factors.
Mitena believes that many of the homeless are not in this situation because of choice but because of circumstances.Through its program for serving the homeless community in California, Mitena hopes to do its part by offering a helping hand to those immediately around us.Mitena team will directly engage in activities offering help, support, and resources to the homeless community by working one on one with them, understanding and identifying specific needs.
Initiatives:
1. Get Hired: There are several individuals (for example, who are homeless) inclined to work, but they do not have the necessary tools and the means to help them get hired. Mitena’s goal is not to find jobs, but rather to find individuals who are willing to work either through direct interaction or from other homeless agencies and help them with the necessary assistance they need end to end from connecting them to job portals and agencies, prepare for interview by providing appropriate clothing and haircut, facilitate commute to attend interviews, help with communication channel with the potential employer such as setting up phone number for voicemail which is accessible from a payphone.
2. Never Hungry: With the increasing homeless population in California, Mitena plans to contribute it’s part in distributing food to the homeless.
Mitena’s goal is to distribute food in the form of meals, participate in or open booths in food distribution events and volunteer in wheels on meals programs.
3. Keep Cozy: It is a known fact by conversing to homeless community that they can never have “more” of basic necessities such as blankets, socks, winter caps, shoes, coat and anything else as deemed necessary. Mitena plans to procure the items from thrift and discount stores.
Mitena’s goal is to provide assistance to 25 individuals in and around Los Angeles for the year 2016 and the approximate expense will be $25 per person, for the total of $625.
4. Survival: We will procure survival kit items such as backpacks, cups, pots, pans, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, cosmetics and anything else as deemed necessary. We plan to procure the items from thrift and discount stores.

Grant Program for the poor and underserved in India:
India is one of the fastest developing economies in the world today, yet it is also home to 20% of the world's poor.Given that India is poised to be the world's most populous country in less than a decade, the disparities and poverty that currently plague the country are likely to multiply unless organized efforts to address the root cause of the problem are quickly implemented.
In fulfilling Mitena's commitment to help the helping hand, through the India program, Mitena will partner with and lend a helping hand to like minded non - profit organizations in India, who are working towards the betterment of the poor and underserved. Specifically, Mitena will provide funds to non - profit organizations in India that are working towards helping disabled people, survivors of domestic and sexual abuse, and the distressed community in the North Eastern and Southern States of India.
Mitena believes that no matter the scale, the situation is so dire that every small step counts and action to help alleviate the distress and disadvantage is the need of the hour.
