Mitena is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization.
Mitena was born to nurture and grow one of the most innate, intuitive, and natural human characteristics – that of ‘Helping’. We believe that it is within each and every one of us to experience happiness and peace from giving to and helping those around us. We want to “Help the helping hand” by providing the opportunity, means, and resources so that everyone can experience and share the joy of giving.
In a time of seamless connectivity where the concept of time and space has literally dissipated, we are still disconnected. We have a generation growing up in a virtual world devoid of real feelings, experiences, and human connections. We hope to change that and help people re-connect, get back in touch with reality, and truly experience the senses we are so blessed to have. Our path to this change is through ‘Giving’ because only those who have given can truly understand its meaning, significance, and depth. Through Mitena, we will provide the infrastructure and support system that inculcates, encourages, and develops strong human values such as kindness, sharing, caring, and giving.
“You make a living by what you get; you make a life by what you give” – Author unknown.
Our Path
Oftentimes, financial and other resource constraints stifle the process of giving. Mitena will help overcome these constraints by offering funds, resources, and guidance to those who want to help others. Mitena will support giving to any cause that furthers the spread of positive values and beliefs.
Our Baby Steps
Focusing on laying a strong foundation today to build a brighter tomorrow, we will begin our journey by nurturing today’s children and youth. Mitena will partner with schools and school children and lend a helping hand by offering resources and guidance so they can help others in their community. Children will work in teams, make their own giving choices – about the cause and the manner of contribution, and completely own the planning and execution of “help the helping hand”. Mitena aims to not only give children the opportunity to experience what it is like to be a giver, but also acquire skills such as team work, financial planning, reporting, managing, and organizing. We hope these experiences will inspire the children to become ambassadors for spreading the idea of giving and equip them to face and embrace the challenges that lie ahead.
